How Google’s Browser Size Tool Can Help Capture Chiropractic Prospects

by Dr. Patrick MacNamara on December 22, 2009 · 4 comments

Let’s say you’ve been reading this blog since day one. You’ve digested the concepts, understood the technology and are now ready to get your feet wet.

You’ve snatched up a domain name, purchased a hosting plan and forged forward with your very first Wordpress install. Heck, you’ve even paid attention and purchased a search engine optimized theme like Headway or Thesis!

After a successful launch, you notice that some blog posts are more popular than others. Matter of fact, one of your posts is just crushing it when it comes to popularity!

So, your entrepreneurial mind starts spinning and wonders what would happen if you repackaged that successful blog post into an ebook. Once developed, you could offer it as a way to attract more new visitors as well as a way to capture names and email addresses from visiting prospects.

You follow through with your epiphany and strategically place your ebook on the home page of your blog. After time, a trickle of prospects exchange their names and email addresses for your ebook but not enough to warrant the amount of time you’ve invested in creating it.

Then, the calendar rolls over to December 16, 2009, and Google announces a new tool that allows you to see how others view your site.

Bam! You’re hit in the face with the reality that most people aren’t viewing your blog via a brand spankin’ new 27″ Apple iMac with its mammoth display.

Matter of fact, Google’s new tool helps you realize that your ebook isn’t even being seen by 40% of your visitors! That’s when the light bulb comes on and you recognize why more prospects haven’t downloaded your masterpiece.

As a chiropractor, you’ve got to think like a CEO. You need to view your blog as an extremely valuable asset to your chiropractic practice. If you were accountable to stockholders, would you take your blog more serious? I bet you would!

So, in this new world of inbound marketing, understanding how the hub of your online world performs is a must! You’ve got to not only pay attention to stats but also react to those stats when your goals aren’t being met.

So, my question is have you used Google’s Browser Size tool to re-evaluate your chiropractic blog?

If not, I challenge you to do so. Like myself, it was an eye-opener!

It’s interesting how many things Google gives us that are actually pretty useful. My website is pretty narrow with a lot of scroll factor. I’m safe!

Thanks for the wonderful blog, doc.

Dr. Lloyd :: You’re right, doc. Just make sure your most important information is positioned above the fold and you’ll be safe.

Thanks for stopping by the site!

Interesting. I never thought of that, but now that you mention it makes sense to me why so many websites have everything near the center of the page aligned more vertical.
