Apple’s iPhone 4 Changes Everything for Chiropractors Again

Yesterday in San Francisco Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, kicked off WWDC 2010 with his traditional keynote address. In typical Steve Job’s fashion, he quickly mesmerized the crowd with the latest stats and technology from Apple.

Even though he began by discussing the magical iPad, every developer sitting in the room knew that the main event would be centered around the iPhone. And, it wasn’t too long before Jobs & Company tempted the audience with things to come by reviewing all the great features packed into their updated mobile operating system, now called iOS4.

Once some of the more impressive features were highlighted — like Multitasking, Folders, Even better Mail, and iBooks — Steve unleashed what the crowd and the rest of the world was waiting for, the 4th-generation of iPhones simply called iPhone 4.

The first thing that shocked me was the famous prototype that was left in a Redwood City, California bar by a 27-year-old Apple software engineer was basically the same design Mr. Jobs unveiled.

Why was this such a shocker?

Because market-ready products launched by Apple traditionally don’t have seams. Remember, this is a company that prides itself in unibody technology and aesthetically pleasing packaging.

Nevertheless, Jobs quickly pointed out the reason for those blasphemous seams — a pioneering new technology that incorporates an antenna throughout the perimeter of the phone’s steel casing. And, because of this new design, Apple was not only able to considerably improve the phone’s reception but also build it fashionably thinner that its predecessor, the iPhone 3GS.

However, the most impressive features I enjoyed was the new retina display, a 5-megapixel still camera with supported LED flash, the addition of a front-facing camera capable of recording in true HD and the Face Time video conferencing capabilities that can be performed over a standard Wi-Fi connection.

Even though all of the aforementioned is absolutely amazing, what really fired me up was the Face Time video conferencing.

Matter of fact, just as soon as Face Time was demonstrated, my mind started spinning on ways that chiropractors could use this in both their chiropractic practices and chiropractic marketing campaigns.

To capture the power of Innate, I quickly fired up Evernote and entered notes for several future blog posts. Stay tuned because “you won’t be disappointed”. ;-)

Furthermore, if you missed Apple’s introductory video of Face Time, you owe it to yourself to watch the following:

Yes, Steve was right when he answered, “You won’t be disappointed”, to a loyal Apple customer during a late night email exchange. Everything that was presented not only met expectations but truly exceeded them.

With that being said, Apple’s iPhone 4 changes everything. Again. Not only for the general population but for chiropractors everywhere just itching to get up-to-speed with current technology.

As Apple continues to innovate, chiropractors have no excuse to sit on the sidelines anymore. With a few apps, a little know-how, and a great deal of ambition, chiropractors can effortlessly enter the world of blogs, social media, and internet marketing on June 24th through one simple device, the Apple iPhone 4.

Question: Do you plan on upgrading or purchasing the new iPhone 4? If so, how do you plan on using it for your chiropractic practice?

I wonder if Video soap notes will be an effective documentation tool?

    • I’m not sure, doc, but great idea!

    • Ed. That would be awesome. If you could set a couple of camcorders in the office so you get a good two-camera view, have it recorded split screen, have it record the dialog and transcribe to text, and file it and index it to the patient’s file. that would be cool.

      • I don’t think that you’re too far off, Dr. Lloyd. With today’s technology, anything’s possible. Grab a few inexpensive HD cameras, wire the room with the proper microphones, and use something like MacSpeech to transcribe the doctor’s voice to text. Then, encrypt and upload your data to a secure host in the cloud for retrieval from any location. ;-)

Apple is pairing up with Twitter and Twitter recently bought TweetDeck. I am looking for some exciting things to come from this.

Apples new iOS5 is going with Twitter over Facebook. Apple now has a social media platform to launch from instead of trying to push that horrible social media music share network.
