Facebook Basics for Chiropractors

Facebook Basics for ChiropractorsIn the rush to take advantage of social media to enhance their marketing efforts, some chiropractors are feeling like they have been left behind. There are so many choices and decisions to make that it can leave you feeling both bewildered and frustrated.

Just relax and know that with a few simple basics you can get onboard with social media and start building great relationships with your clients. This article will focus on some easy ways to use Facebook in your practice.

The first thing to remember is the purpose of Facebook. It is a place where people connect and interact with their friends. Keeping that in mind will make sure your Facebook efforts have the right style and tone.

Another point to consider is how Facebook compares to other social media. Blog posts are often long and rich with detail, while messages on Twitter seem microscopic by comparison (the standard is 140 characters including spaces). Facebook posts should fall somewhere between these two extremes, leaning towards the briefer end of the spectrum.

Your goal on Facebook is to get your prospects and patients to “like” your page, interact with the content that you post and communicate with other clients.

Here are three simple steps for establishing a presence on Facebook:

How to Use Facebook iFrames

FacebookBack in March, Facebook deprecated FBML for iFrames. What this meant was Page admins would no longer be able to install new FBML apps and developers would no longer be able to create them. Instead, they’d need to embrace iFrames as the new standard.

Around that time I noticed several entrepreneurs releasing new products and services that made the conversion from FBML to iFrames insanely simple. Since I administrate numerous Pages, it was a no brainer to purchase them to help streamline the conversion.

Here’s a list of the tools I use:

But you don’t necessarily need to spend your hard-earned cash on any of the above if you only administrate one Page. Yes, they’ll provide you with the tools to make your Page pop, but if you’re just starting out you can simply install the Static HTML: iframes tabs app by following these 3 Easy Steps:

How to Secure the Username of Your Chiropractic Facebook Page

FacebookOn June 13, 2009 Facebook rolled out Facebook Usernames. This allowed individuals to choose a username for their profile and Facebook Pages.

I, like many others, secured my username the moment it went live. Why? Because the vanity URL is an important aspect of most social media websites. Being able to choose the URL for your social profile (i.e. Facebook.com/PatrickMacNamara) not only makes it easy to share with others, but helps you claim a little piece of social media space as your own.

Not only did I secure the username for my personal profile but also for my Page. This way I can maintain privacy via my personal profile but still easily connect with people I’ve never met.

How to Add the Facebook Like Button to Your Chiropractic Blog

Facebook Like ButtonIn my last post, I introduced 6 Facebook strategies every chiropractor should know. The fifth strategy on the list was having an Engagement Strategy.

Even though engagement is an essential part, I don’t want you to think that it should only happen on Facebook. It should also happen on Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube, and your chiropractic blog.

Why your blog?

Because your blog should be the center of all your online marketing endeavors. By leveraging the power of social media you’ll not only be able to drive prospects back to your blog but also be able capture their email addresses for future communication and marketing.

6 Facebook Strategies Every Chiropractor Should Know

FacebookWithout a doubt, Facebook is a force to be reckoned with. Not only does it sit at #2 among Alexa’s top website list but on some days it generates more page views than Google.

And, with a membership of over 650 million people, chiropractors should pay attention and get active on this social media network before more customers are lost.

Unfortunately, though, most chiropractors simply don’t know where to start. Sure, they’ve signed up, got a personal account, filled in some information, sent friend requests, and probably even created a page for their chiropractic practice. But if they don’t know what to do after that, they miss the enormous business opportunities that other small businesses are profiting from.

So today I decided to help lay the foundation for your chiropractic Facebook Page by covering the 6 Facebook strategies every chiropractor should know.

How To Add Facebook Questions to Your Chiropractic Facebook Page

Facebook Questions

Late last week, Facebook released a new version of its Questions Tool. Soon after that it began rolling out the feature to Facebook Pages.

The cool thing about Facebook Questions is that it gives chiropractors the ability to quickly survey fans, potential patients, as well as current patients on multiple things related to chiropractic, general health, et cetera…

As Facebook says, “Learn from your friends, see where people stand, and share what you know.”

Also, by creating quick polls, you can gather information quickly that’ll help you, for example, refine certain marketing campaigns, determine the benefits of participating in upcoming community events, and other scenarios that’ll potentially affect your business’s bottom line.

But, to take advantage of this new feature, you need to add Questions to your chiropractic Facebook Page. Here’s how …

A Facebook Insights Update for Chiropractors

FacebookOn Monday, Facebook added some really nice new features to their already powerful Insights Dashboard. If you administer a Facebook Page for your chiropractic practice, you owe it to yourself to learn about these new updates.

To make things easier, you can download the official Facebook Insights Guide Update by clicking HERE.

As Facebook reminds us, having good analytics is key to successfully growing a business. For chiropractors, this relates to both your online as well as your offline presence.

For instance, web analytics give chiropractors the ability to determine if specific marketing campaigns are paying off. By not utilizing them, how do you determine the ROI for each campaign?

Remember, you’re the CEO of your own practice. Even though you may not be accountable to stockholders, you still need to run your chiropractic business like a Fortune 500 company. Plus, by being a good steward, you’re more capable of thwarting the effects of these turbulent economic times.

Facebook Page Redesign 2011: 2 Resources Chiropractors Can Use Now

Facebook PagesFacebook unveiled its new design for Pages last Thursday, February 10th. Even though there’s been a few groans from Page administrators, for the most part the redesign is being embraced quite well.

Personally, I really like the new redesign. It’s clean, less cluttered, and gives administrators much more flexibility with its platform.

But, if you’ve been using your Facebook Page correctly and have upgraded to the new design, you’ll instantly notice that tabs are no longer hip. Instead, everything has been shifted to the left-side column much like your personal Facebook profile page.

Why a Chiropractic Facebook Page is So Powerful

FacebookIn yesterday’s Tuesday Tip email, I talked briefly about having a Facebook page for your chiropractic practice. If you didn’t receive it, then obviously you’re not on my email list. But you can quickly fix that by clicking HERE.

The purpose of my tip was to show how powerful a Facebook page is toward capturing leads, marketing to prospects, and staying in touch with your patients. It can be just as powerful as an email optin form if used correctly.

Why?

Because once someone clicks on the “Like” button, they’ve given you access to them via Facebook’s direct messaging system.

So, how does one stimulate “Likes”?
