For Americans, today is a day of true celebration that dates back well over four centuries. Introduced by European Americans, Thanksgiving has always been a time to reflect on God’s blessings and provision.
As I gather with loved ones, I, too, will reflect on the many blessings God has bestowed upon me and my family. Even though the list is quite extensive, I’ll make sure that my humbled gratitude is given to the One who made it all possible. Without Him, I’m truly nothing.
Likewise, as you gather with friends, family, and loved ones, I encourage you to do the same. A great place to start is through the links I’ve provided below. They’ll provide history to our holiday, foundation for our beliefs, and encouragement to future generations.
But before you dive into them, please know from the bottom of my heart how much I’m grateful for each one of you, the vibrant community that surrounds Next Generation Chiropractor. Without you, this blog wouldn’t exist.
A Time to Give Thanks
- 1. Review the true history of Thanksgiving presented in Celebrating Thanksgiving in America.
- 2. Read historic Thanksgiving proclamations given by our founding fathers over at Thanksgiving Proclamations.
WallBuilders has many other great resources to help remind us of the purpose of Thanksgiving. Fortunately, they have nothing to do with overeating, Black Friday, or even blogging.
In their most simplistic form, they turn us to a God that graciously protects, provides, and prospers. And that’s exactly what I pray for you during this wonderful day of Thanksgiving — be blessed, be prosperous, and make your attitude of gratitude a daily habit, not just a one day event.
“I do…issue this my proclamation, hereby appointing Thursday…a day of public and solemn thanksgiving and prayer to Almighty God, earnestly recommending to all the good people…to set apart the said day for those purposes.”
