Chiropractic blogs offer chiropractors many ways to promote and market their chiropractic practices. Whether it’s through simple text-based content or more feature-rich content like audio and video, chiropractic blogs built within the correct platform can handle whatever your innate throws its way.

With that said, some chiropractors may feel more comfortable recording their thoughts instead of typing them out via keyboard and mouse. If you fall within that category, then you need to begin a chiropractic podcast.
Speaking of podcasts, I was recently featured on the Find & Convert podcast hosted by Bernie Borges, CEO of Find & Convert. Check it out by clicking HERE!
There are many ways to create a podcast. But, before you start, you need to develop an editorial calendar similar to the one you use for writing blog posts.
If you’re not familiar with what an editorial calendar is, then read through Michele Linn’s excellent article titled How to Put Together an Editorial Calendar for Content Marketing. It’s jam-packed with great insight!
Once you have an editorial calendar in place and understand what topics you’ll be covering, you then need to consider what software, hardware, plugins, and accessories you’ll use to accomplish your goal.
As the saying goes, there are many ways to skin a cat. However, the following tips should get you started sooner than later:
- Shoot for a show length between 20-30 minutes.
- Keep topics moving, and limit topic coverage to 5-8 minutes.
- Try to use guests as a way to break up the conversation, pace, and tone of your shows.
- Use musical backgrounds (known as jingles) or other non-music interludes to transition between topics.
If you need an outline to follow on how your show should flow, consider these eight points:
- Show intro monologue (who you are, what you’re going to talk about): 30-60 seconds
- Intro music jingle (repeat for each show so listeners identify the jingle with your show): 30-60 seconds
- Topic 1: 5 minutes
- Topic 2: 5 minutes
- Interlude (music or break): 30 seconds
- Topic 3: 5 minutes
- Topic 4: 5 minutes
- Closing remarks (thank the audience for listening, thank guests, talk about the next show briefly): 2 minutes
- Closing music jingle (suggest same as Intro music jingle): 2 minutes
For audio recordings, I prefer GarageBand but if you’re not on a Mac, a quick Google search should find what you need.
If you intend to submit your podcast to iTunes, first review the iTunes Extended Podcast RSS specification, which contains useful information on creating your podcast RSS file to work optimally in the iTunes Directory.
Once you’ve created your RSS file, your podcast is ready to be shared. To publish a podcast, you can either publish it through iTunes or use a plugin like Blubrry PowerPress or Podpress.
If you use iTunes, just open iTunes and select Store in the Source list. On the iTunes Store home page, click Podcasts, then click Publish Podcast and complete the form.
If you don’t want to use either of the methods mentioned above, then check out BlogTalkRadio.
As mentioned on their site, BlogTalkRadio allows anyone, anywhere the ability to host a live, Internet Talk Radio show, simply by using a telephone.
Receiving attention and acclaim from leading media outlets like USA Today, CNN.com, CNET.com, TechCrunch, FoxNews, and dozens more, BlogTalkRadio is revolutionizing social media and radio broadcasting and redefining what it means to have a conversation in an online environment. Launched in 2006, the network hosts and preserves millions of conversations and brings together like-minded individuals into diverse online communities.
For leading brands such as PepsiCo, Wal-Mart, and Ford Motor Company, BlogTalkRadio’s proprietary technology and broad network of loyal listeners delivers a breakthrough solution for social media and conversational marketing.
Blending elements of traditional telephony, blogging, broadcast talk radio, streaming audio/video, Internet chat and podcasting, and featuring a broad syndication network, the highly-scalable BlogTalkRadio platform makes it easy for individuals and corporate users to publish, consume and share content.
Regardless which platform you use, hosting a chiropractic podcast can put you on the map as an authority within your profession. Not only will your patients appreciate the extra content but you’ll potentially gain notoriety among fellow colleagues.
Several of you may notice that I have a podcast that apparently isn’t updated as one frequently should. For clarification, my original goal was to transform old blog posts into audio counterparts for added choice and consumption. Even though I’ve only completed a few, stay tuned because new episodes will be on their way in the near future.
Question: Do you have a podcast? How are you promoting it to your patients and community?

Sometimes I wish I had more than 24 hours in one day. Ebook and more Video and Podcasts are certainly on my calendar. My goal is to bring my blog content up to speed and avoid a burn out. Balance is the key.
Great Post Doc, keep them coming
Agreed, Dr. Burt! Sometimes it gets overwhelming with so many irons in the fire. But, if you stick to an editorial calendar, you’ll stay on task and be able to meet your goals.
For example, outside of this blog, I oversee BloggingChiros.com, ChiroBlogDesigns.com, ChiroFeeds.com, and DevelopingOthers.com.
In addition, I’m the webmaster for AMCFamily.com, which includes every website associated with AMC as well as their Director blogs. And, of course, I maintain clients’ blogs purchased through ChiroBlogDesigns.com.
So, it’s not that I’m lazy and/or don’t want to invest more time into my podcast. I simply don’t have enough hours throughout the day to get it all done. Nevertheless, I absolutely love what I do and am consistently focused on generating the very best content within time limitations no matter what site or platform it is published on.
You forgot to include the time for your Road Biking passion. I ride my MTB 3 times a week.. Trail is only 5 minutes drive from my house. Belive it or not you can do a lot of thinking while riding.
Have a Great Labor Day Weekend.
Your are correct! Not too many people connect the two since I try to keep that passion separate from this one. Nevertheless, it is something I truly enjoy. Matter of fact, I’m hitting the road bright and early tomorrow morning to put in around 30 miles. I’m looking forward to it!
Enjoy your weekend as well, doc!
