How to Engage Your Chiropractic Blog Readers Through the Wibiya Toolbar

email

wibiyaIf you’ve been blogging for any length of time, you should already understand and appreciate your blog’s ability to stimulate dialogue through the comments section of each post. Dialogue is not only important to aid in building relationships with your readers but also in measuring engagement.

If you’re not familiar with the term engagement, think of it this way — it refers to the attention people give to your content by promoting it through various social networks or social bookmarking sites.

The more valuable your content, the more it’ll spread as an engagement event. The more events your blog stimulates, the more rank it pulls among the sites that matter most like Reddit and DIGG.

As more chiropractors start blogging, one of the frustrations I see them experience is their inability to stimulate dialogue with their readers.

Silence is Golden … Right?

Not exactly.

You see, what they fail to realize is that the deafening silence that’s exhibited isn’t from an inability to stimulate dialogue but rather from a lack of readers.

But My Content is the BEST!

Maybe so.

But, blogging chiropractors still need to realize that digital marketing is slow.

It takes time to build traction and produce the plethora of valuable content that Google seeks to earn their right on Google’s first page.

Then What Should a Beginning Blogger Do?

Look no further than your own toolbox!

There are many tools available to help blogging chiropractors engage the few readers that happenstance upon their site.

And, the one that I now recommend is a nifty toolbar created by the good folks over at Wibiya.

Instead of writing a post on their FREE service, I thought you’d appreciate a quick screencast demonstrating just how easy it is to install and use.

But, before you click the play button, allow me to give credit where credit is due — to Dr. Todd Sullivan of Springfield, Virginia.

He’s Da Man! ;-)

Dr. Sullivan has been successfully using the Wibiya toolbar for sometime now on his blog. Because of the results he’s been experiencing, he asked me if I’d tried it to see what I thought.

Being the skeptic, I was hesitant at first. Primarily because previous toolbars had such poorly written scripts that they slowed the performance and download speed of my site.

However, after testing the Wibiya toolbar for over a week, I can proudly state that not only does their toolbar works flawlessly and without any performance issues but I’ve also seen an increase in engagement from my readers since it was installed.

So, my hat’s off to Dr. Sullivan and for encouraging me to take the leap! I’m truly enjoying the new capabilities.

Now, to see it in action, here’s a quick screencast:

Roll That Film!

Question: Besides Wibiya, what other ways do you engage your readers? I’d love to hear about it in the {comments} section below!

  1. Cool new feature, doc. Do you know if it works for WordPress.com template blogs too, or only the customized WordPress.org blogs?

  2. Dr. MacNamara,

Great post, I’m glad I gave you the push, its the least I could do since you inspired me to setup a chiropractic blog. You can also used the wibiya toolbar on your chiropractic website if you have the ability to edit the html code of your home page. On my chiropractic website I also put the toolbar, take a look http://www.NovaChiroWellness.com

  3. Dr. Tanase :: Yes, it should work without a glitch on any WordPress site regardless if it’s self-hosted or not.

  4. Dr. Sullivan :: You are correct. If you know how to add the javascript to your website’s HTML, you should be good to go.

    Thanks again for the nudge!

  5. By the way, you both need to update your profile photo so that it shows up in your comments. Otherwise, you just come across incognito — unless that’s what you both are shooting for! :-)

  6. That post was EXACTLY what I needed to read today. There is definitely a slow build but I know it will pay off in the end.

FYI- at the moment, wibiya is not able to be installed on wordpress.com blogs. This may be the final motivation I need to bite the bullet and switch over to the self-hosted blog!

  7. Dr. Smith :: Glad I could be of service! Also, according to Wibiya, it should work regardless if you use a subdomain hosted blog with WordPress or a self-hosted blog.

Regardless, you are correct that you need to move toward self-hosting.
