On September 15, 1997, two Stanford PhD candidates, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, registered the domain name Google.com. Originally nicknamed “BackRub”, because their new system checked backlinks to estimate the importance of a site, the name was changed to Google after its name was derived from the misspelling of the word “googol”, the number one followed by one hundred zeros, which was meant to signify the amount of information the search engine was to handle.

Google was later incorporated on September 4, 1998 at a friend’s garage in Menlo Park, California. And, as the saying goes, the rest is history.

5 Examples of Videos that Went Viral Thanks to YouTube

One of my goals for 2010 is to schedule more rest and relaxation. Not because I’m lazy and looking for the easy way out but rather the opposite — I tend to work excessively.

Now, don’t get me wrong, being melancholy is great! But, if I didn’t have a sanguine wife to help balance my personality I’m not quite sure how I’d still have my sanity.

You see, melancholies are perfectionists. And, it’s in our nature to neglect rest. So, as we are trying to create our perfect worlds, if anything gets out of place, we spend an insane amount of time trying to reorganize it.

So, today I decided to stop and smell the roses.
