How Chiropractic Bloggers Can Avoid Writer’s Block

Wad of PaperEvery once in a while chiropractic bloggers face the inevitable writer’s block. Although there are various causes, most blocks simply come from a lack of creativity or inspiration. Others come from a misunderstanding of the purpose of a blog.

Matter of fact, I hear it all of the time … “What’s so important about what I have to say?” or “Will people understand what I’m talking about?”

If you’ve asked yourself the above questions, then you’re approaching your blog from the wrong perspective. Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about them!

Every time you sit in front of your computer to write a new blog post, think about what your readers want to read. Better yet, find out what they’re searching for when they visit Google or other search engines. This will help fine-tune your message and get it noticed during search.

In addition, get creative by using online resources. By being an ear and eye, you’ll not only produce better content that meets the needs, wants, and desires of your prospects but will also become more efficient with your time.

For starters, check out the following resources that’ll help chiropractors avoid writer’s block.

What Do You Do When You Accidentally Hit Publish on a Blog Post

This is a guest post by Dr. Jon P. Heins of Belvidere, New Jersey.

panicThe other day I was drafting HTML code using the WYSIWYG editor in my WordPress dashboard. My main purpose was to generate HTML code for both a custom landing tab for my Facebook fan page and my newsletter sign up form. Unfortunately in the process, I accidentally hit Publish instead of Save Draft!

Panic set in because I just sent it out to multiple RSS subscribers, Twitter via Google’s socialize, Facebook via the NetworkedBlogs application, the WordPress widget on my LinkedIn profile, and it will now show up on my newsletter!

This happened to me about nine months ago when I accidentally hit publish on a post I had written but was scheduling for a later date. When I asked if it could be undone Grant Griffiths replied to me on Twitter and stated that “Once the tooth paste is out of the tube you can’t get it back in”.

So what to do?

Why Chiropractors Should Use the RSS Footer WordPress Plugin

One of the problems professional bloggers face is having their content stolen and republished on another website or blog. The technical term for this is called web scraping and can become an annoying problem as the popularity of your blog increases.

Recently, as I was checking my Google Alerts and trackbacks, I noticed the URL of a chiropractic site that was scraping my blog’s content without permission.

Since my content is both copyrighted and registered with Creative Commons, I quickly notified the offender of his violation and politely asked him to remove it as soon as possible.

CoffeeCup_Feed_256x256Over in Blogging Chiros this week, we’re discussing how to bridge the gap between setting up a blog and marketing it via social media networks.

Tools like RSS feeds, RSS via email and email newsletter opt-in fields are critical to the success of any serious blogger.

Why?

Because they allow you to capture leads from some of your most valuable readers.

You see, as a business owner, it makes no sense to devote hours in creating quality content if you don’t have a way to capture readers’ contact information outside of what they provide in the comment section of each blog post.

In my last post, I encouraged you to break through the glass ceiling of your practice by investing time, energy and resources in new ways of marketing. If you recall, you must Think Different to accomplish this.

(If you’re still a little fuzzy on what RSS is, then read this explanation.)
