Dust off those tweets because today we are featuring our seventh chiropractor in this blog’s #followfriday series. If you’re new to the site, please read the introductory post for this series. It’ll get you up-to-speed on why this series exists and its purpose.

This week it is my pleasure to introduce to you our #followfriday chiropractor, Dr. Jon P. Heins.
Dr. Heins is the owner of Belvidere Chiropractic Center located in Belvidere, New Jersey.
Before beginning his chiropractic career, Dr. Heins attended Montclair State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1994. He then obtained his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree at Life University in 1997 and his NJ chiropractic license in 1998.
Upon licensure, he then worked as an associate at auto injury practices located in Hillside and Jersey City, NJ, until purchasing his existing practice, Belvidere Chiropractic Center, in 2000.
Dr. Heins is an active member of the Association of NJ Chiropractors, the Association of NJ Chiropractors Sports Council, is active as a local Salvation Army Annual Angel Tree sponsor, Theo’s Work donor, and a National Parks Conservation Association member.
He was introduced to chiropractic at a young age. At the age of four, he suffered from headaches at least a couple times a week. His father took him to his chiropractor and the rest is history — it, of course, helped!
Dr. Heins remembers always wanting to be a doctor so he could help others but the chiropractor was the only one he actually liked to visit. According to Dr. Heins,
“The others poked, prodded, gagged, drilled, stabbed, and cut you. I never felt any better, usually worse after seeing them and then was supposed to take some nasty tasting medicine which I usually found a way to spit out anyway. But not Dr Jay! He gently felt your back gave it a push and pop instant relief!”
Dr. Heins’ primary focus is family care of all ages. He treats everyone from newborns to senior citizens. Matter of fact, his oldest patient is in her 90s!
Dr. Heins’ known within the community as a chiropractor that takes care of generations of family members. I love his practice motto:
“Your Family Chiropractic Center: Where Generations Of Your Family Are Cared For By Our Family”
His philosophy is simple:
“Treat everyone like you’d treat your own family as every patient and all human beings are your brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grand-parents, and children.”
Dr. Heins’ utilizes full spine Diversified, Thompson Drop, extremity adjusting, upper cervical toggle and, occasionally, SOT. For Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Heins concentrates on myofascial trigger point release methods and joint mobilization. He states that he also does some EMS and/or mechanical traction; however, it’s not a focus of his practice.
He also spends a great deal of time educating his patients and community. This is why he loves blogging. He states,
“Now I can put information up on the web, ping the social sites, email the feed, print it out as hand outs to the patients and mail a postcard or newsletter saving a lot of time to adjust more, yet still educate people about chiropractic and their health.”
Dr. Heins is happily married to his wife, Michelle, who is the Dean of Students at Fairleigh Dickinson University. They have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, Aliyah. They enjoy traveling, hiking, swimming, and spending time outside together. He and his wife love going to the movies, although since Aliyah was born they haven’t been able to do so very often. 
Some of Dr. Heins’ interests include reading and listening to music. He’s an avid audiophile and occasionally still plays his bass. He also likes football and is definitely a NY Jets Fan even though he’s known to follow the NY Giants too.
