I realize we all stay fairly busy — not just with our practices, but also our daily lives. Nevertheless, one of the signs of a true leader and entrepreneur is staying current with changing times.
One of the biggest changes occurring globally is how we communicate. Case in point, look at how rapidly social media networks have grown to accommodate ever-advancing technology. People of all ages are signing up en masse just to be able to connect with friends and family across the globe. What was once seen as an impossibility is now today’s reality.
Consequently, smart businesses are establishing themselves online within these networks to secure their spot for potential commerce. Facebook fan pages, Linkedin profiles, customized Twitter pages and YouTube channels are just some of the tools being used to develop relationships with people in order to win their business.
As chiropractors and small business owners, we have no excuse to ignore the times, especially when technology provides efficient ways of distributing valuable content straight to our digital front door. No matter how busy we become, if we don’t continue to educate ourselves, we’ll limit our profession from reaching the masses that are not only looking for but desperately needing our services within today’s healthcare delivery system.
Therefore, don’t forget about the value of investing in physical objects consisting of a number of pages bound together — better known as a book!
Even though information can be streamed our way quickly, sometimes nothing can replace a book that provides quick access to needed resources.
With that said, there is a new book being released August 26, 2009 by Erik Qualman, Global Vice President of Online Marketing for EF Education, titled Socialnomics: How social media transforms the way we live and do business. If you want the facts on how social media is changing the dynamics of business, then you NEED this book.
Even though it doesn’t go on sale within traditional brick-and-mortar bookstores until August 26, you can pick up your copy through Amazon today!
Erik has also produced a video titled Social Media Revolution that is similar to Did You Know but focuses specifically on social media and its networks instead of technology in general. That in itself should be enough to encourage you to watch.
Business leaders need to remain cognizant of change. Even though human nature wants to reject it, life’s DNA is tightly wrapped around it. If we fail to embrace it, we only have ourselves to blame when business heads south.

Thanks again Dr. Patrick MacNamara for the Great Tip. I will get and read right after I read Face to Face (How to Reclaim the Personal Touch in a Digital World) by Susan RoAne. And I will let you know how it was on Twitter. And Can’t Wait for your two very exciting projects on September 1st!
Dr. Heins :: Thanks again for your comments. Also, it looks like I need to check out the book you’re currently reading. Make sure you follow up with me to let me know how it is. I’d greatly appreciate it!
Just found out about your blog and I love it. Im going to pick this book up asap.
Dr. Crawford :: Glad you’re enjoying the site. And, you’ll enjoy the book. I’m half way through it and am thoroughly enjoying it.
Everybody are talking about facebook and twitter, the two modes of online marketing that I have not done. I simply think that I do not have the time to be everywhere on top of my emails, No Surgery Scoliosis Forum and my blog The Singapore Chiro.
How much of your site traffic is coming from Fb and twitter?
Dr. Kalla :: The majority of my traffic comes from organic search via Google. However, outside of Google, Twitter is #2 with my Facebook fan page coming in #3.
So, being active on these two social media networks is crucial to my blog’s success.
To overcome time constraints, I’ve put together a simple marketing plan for both social media networks that streamlines the process. I may write a blog post on this in the near future but cover it exclusively within my Blogging Chiros membership site.
